When you first use Adobe Photoshop CS5, you get asked what you want to do about the command-H (⌘ H) key combination.
If you selected 'hide photoshop' but you regret it and want to use the traditional Hide Selection instead, you need to change your keyboard shortcuts.
In Photoshop select edit > keyboard shortcuts
and then scroll down till you find "Hide Photoshop".
Click onto the shortcut, and then click 'delete shortcut'.
Next scroll further down to View > Show and in there you find 'Selection Edges'.
Click in and type "cmd H" and you'll see ⌘-H. Click OK and you're done.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! :)
ReplyDeletewelcome!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
ReplyDeleteWho was the dingdong that thought switching that was a good idea. Isn’t hiding apps the job of the system anyway? I think command-H was probably the most used shortcut of any app I use. It is like changing command-C to clear a selection.
ReplyDeleteI agree it's a terrible idea to change it. Yes, Cmd + H might be the OSX "recommended standard" shortcut to hide apps, but honestly, since the introduction of Expose in OS10.3, does anyone actually bother hiding apps anymore?
ReplyDeleteThe move to OS10.7 will only make it seem more antiquated, with the emphasis on full-screen apps. Personally, I'm all in favour of that - it's moving to a system similar to my much-missed Amiga OS - where all apps have their own separate workspaces.
THANK YOU!!! Worked like a charm :)
ReplyDeleteI show and hide apps, particularly the finder, so keeping existing behaviour is really desirable!
ReplyDeleteYeah, seriously, thank you. I have been scratching my head over how to reset this, but foolishly didn't realize it would be in keyboard shortcuts. I thought I was missing a preference or something.
ReplyDeleteThe even easier fix for this, if you haven't set any custom keyboard shortcuts, is to just delete the 'keyboard shortcuts' preference file in the Library.
Thanks!!!
ReplyDeletethank you! And thanks for the screen captures. My "extras" had command+H as the shortcut, so I had a few things to reorder.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I was just about to lose my mind.
