Error message in OSX Console - Can't create kext cache under / - owner not root

I was getting an error in the console:

    com.apple.kextd[10]: Can't create kext cache under / - owner not root

This can be fixed by doing the following command:

    sudo chown root:admin /

    Fantastic Tip!!! Thank you sir!

    I've found I can cause this message by doing an 'erase free space' under disk utility FWIW :)
