The combination of No Machine's Remote Desktop and thin clients is truly excellent. However using the OSX client has given people a lot of problems, specially keyboard mappings - basically the mapping is trashed and its impossible to use.
The workaround, tested with OSX v. 10.4.x and NX Client 3.0.x is to start X11 first then launch NX.
Excellent! It works for me!

Thanks a lot!
w0w, finally! :D
ReplyDeleteThis is excellent! I was trying to get this working for 2days and found this post.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
Running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and NX Client 3.4.0-8
I'm trying to use the NXClient to connect from a Mac to a Ubuntu server. I can't get the Keyboard mappings right - any time I press the "d" key all running apps on the remote (ubuntu) machine are killed.
ReplyDeleteI tried starting the X11 server prior to launching the NX Client (by going to Apps->Utilities->X11) but that didn't work.
Am am I missing something? Is that not "starting" X11 on my mac prior to trying to connect with NX Server? Any other ideas?
Thanks! This is driving me crazy not being able to work remotely effectively!

@JimmyJames, "d" might be set up as a shortcut (it was on mine, and was really annoying). System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts
